Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate deaths in New Mexico, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause and manner of death.
  • Work closely with law enforcement, funeral homes, and transporters to ensure a thorough and efficient investigation.
  • Collect and analyze evidence, including photographs and medical records.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the OMI, detailing the findings of the investigation.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and procedures in death investigation.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (e.g., anatomy, physiology, kinesiology) preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license required.
