Medical Investigator Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Investigator Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the investigation of deaths in New Mexico.
About the RoleThe Medical Investigator Specialist will be responsible for conducting investigations into sudden, violent, untimely, or unexpected deaths in New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in a relevant field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities- Conduct investigations into deaths in New Mexico, determining the cause and manner of death
- Collaborate with law enforcement, funeral homes, and transporters to gather information and evidence
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of investigations
- Provide formal death certification to relevant authorities
- Work effectively in an electronic record-keeping system
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders in the counties
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and follow complex instructions
- Strong ethical background and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and/or kinesiology
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to manipulate heavy objects
- Ability to write reports containing technical information
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $20.12, as well as the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is a non-benefits eligible position, with the possibility of remote work in-state only.
