POSITION SUMMARY
The Applications Engineer at ClimateMaster is responsible for planning, designing, and coordinating commercial and industrial HVAC equipment into the manufacturing process. This role works closely with manufacturer's representatives, consulting engineers, and sustaining engineering teams to plan, design, and specify equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze performance requirements and design configurations of HVAC equipment based on schedules and specifications set forth by customers and/or engineers.
Specify components, materials, and capacities of standard and custom HVAC equipment.
Prepare detailed design and quotations for components and engineering requirements to be used in HVAC equipment.
Perform detailed cost analysis of HVAC equipment, including purchased components, margin analysis, and fabrication labor.
Prepare scope letters and project proposals for presentation to reps and customers.
Work with consulting engineers to generate preliminary designs and layouts of custom HVAC equipment to become the basis of design in project specifications.
Prepare submittals for customer and engineer's review utilizing selection software and other computer programs.
Negotiate price, terms, and conditions with outside vendors used to meet project needs and requirements.
Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field.
Confer with peers in various departments, including sales, engineering, and fabrication shop, to provide technical information.
Maintain a good understanding of various building HVAC systems and how our products compete with alternative HVAC technologies.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new products are optimized for manufacturability, installation, and field service.
Actively participate in new product development team meetings and gate reviews.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
MS degree preferred.
High: 10 years of Mechanical/Electrical engineering experience preferred.
Working familiarity with various CAD and 2D drawing programs.
Advanced with Microsoft Office suite products.
Lean or DMAIC Six Sigma background preferred.
Strong knowledge of HVAC system design and applications.
Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
Strong knowledge of the HVAC industry and building codes that relate to HVAC equipment, such as ASHRAE standards.
Good familiarity with regulatory entities, including UL, ETL, AHRI, and ASHRAE, preferred.
