Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the department, distributing and assigning work, determining priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform supervisory functions for assigned staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Perform advanced and specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques, duplicating work of others to confirm test results, re-evaluating methodology, and making recommended changes.
  • Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy, initiate quality-control measures, and monitor the quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition, complete training and competency checklists as appropriate, and adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
Requirements
  • Four to six years of full-time experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and use manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty.
  • Knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
