Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Transportation Planning and Policy Group Director to lead our team in the Central States Office of HNTB. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the growth and development of our Transportation Planning and Policy practice, driving business growth, and delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-discipline team of planning, engineering, landscape architecture, and communications professionals in the design, development, and delivery of client projects and programs.
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, and quality control to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee departments and sections financial metrics to ensure adherence to group goals and office growth and delivery expectations.
  • Collaborate with leadership across the Central States Office and Central Division to apply the firm's strategic sales and planning approaches.
  • Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients receive the proper resources at the right time.
  • Responsible for the technical coaching and mentoring of staff, as well as the efficient and productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality client service and delivery.
  • Develop and execute the office strategic plan, including marketing responsibilities, client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
  • Maintain client contacts to ensure client satisfaction and lead sales and marketing efforts for department growth.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of department staff within the group.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
  • 12 years of relevant experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 15 years of practical experience preferred.
  • 6 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
  • American Society of Landscape Architects certification preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the geographic markets of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Oklahoma preferred.
