Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric to join our team at the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, and providing physician-ordered medical treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, and providing physician-ordered medical treatment.
  • Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior, and participates in treatment planning.
  • Assesses the needs of clients, which can include an assessment of care received, services available, and work environments to identify potential obstacles to success.
  • Handles crisis intervention with clients (psychological, physiological, and behavioral).
  • Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records electronically and/or physically as appropriate.
  • May provide clinical supervision to licensed, paraprofessional, and direct care personnel involved in the care and treatment of clients and may assist in aspects of administrative supervision.
  • May assist in general client care activities, such as meal preparation and distribution and room preparation.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; monitors clients and ensures building security.
Requirements
  • Must be a licensed and registered nurse in the State of New York.
  • Must have a strong understanding of psychiatric nursing principles and practices.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
