Position Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Coordinated Nursing Services (OCNS)

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at OMH plays a vital role in delivering exceptional care to individuals facing psychiatric challenges.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Valid New York State License and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Certification in the Psychiatry specialty from the NY State Education Department for the Nurse Practitioner role.
Transfer Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be permanent Nurse Practitioners (Various Parenthetics), G-24, and qualify for lateral transfer.
Open Competitive Eligibility:
  • New York State License and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Certification in the Psychiatry specialty for the Nurse Practitioner role.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Board Certification is mandatory
  • Doctoral degree in nursing practice or a related discipline
  • Preferred affiliation with an academic faculty
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer communication skills
  • Position may require travel within New York State
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Facilitate the execution of the Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program
  • Provide support to Nurse Practitioners across various inpatient and outpatient services
  • Identify educational gaps and create tools to assess learning outcomes
  • Pursue grant funding and educational initiatives for Nurse Practitioner practice
