The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at OMH plays a vital role in delivering exceptional care to individuals experiencing psychiatric challenges.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid New York State License and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Certification in the Psychiatry specialty from the NY State Education Department for the Nurse Practitioner role.
Transfer Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be permanent Nurse Practitioners (Various Parenthetics), G-24, and qualified for lateral transfer.
Open Competitive Eligibility:
  • Possession of a valid New York State License and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Certification in the Psychiatry specialty for the Nurse Practitioner role.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Board Certification is mandatory
  • Doctoral degree in nursing practice or a related discipline
  • Preferred affiliation with an academic faculty
  • Strong written, computer, and verbal communication skills
  • This position may require occasional travel within New York State
Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the execution of the Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program
  • Provide support to Nurse Practitioners across various inpatient and outpatient services
  • Identify areas of knowledge deficiency and create tools to assess learning outcomes
  • Pursue grant funding and educational initiatives for Nurse Practitioner practice
