Position Overview

The Lead Financial Analyst in Cost Management plays a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Cost Accounting Manager. This position is essential in supporting the performance management of our manufacturing operations. Responsibilities encompass budgeting, forecasting, monthly closing processes, compliance, reporting, performance analysis, and special projects as they arise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a matrix organization while managing multiple priorities across various functions and levels. Additionally, a developing knowledge in accounting, finance, financial control, systems, information analysis, and reporting is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Reporting & Analysis - Deliver financial insights for manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of the annual budget, periodic forecasts, and operational plans.
  • Execute assigned closing tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare journal entries and conduct account reconciliations and substantiations.
  • Evaluate monthly financial performance, conducting root cause analysis and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct profitability assessments on product lines, customers, capital investments, and other business decisions.
  • Ensure financial integrity by adhering to established procedures and internal controls in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Perform financial modeling and conduct trend and sensitivity analyses.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy of standard costing.
  • Prepare and coordinate capital expenditure requests and engage in long-term capital planning.
  • Support inventory and asset control initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of accounting systems such as Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services/Smartview, Insight, and Friedman.
  • Maintain financial integrity by following established procedures, policies, and internal controls.
  • Enhance professional and technical accounting knowledge through ongoing training and education.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of all MasterBrand strategic business units, leveraging insights from colleagues to provide value-added recommendations and best practices.
  • Foster teamwork by collaborating with finance management and staff, sharing information and ideas, and actively seeking constructive feedback.
  • Exemplify the MasterBrand Way, positioning the company for growth while identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve the work environment.
  • Engage in company initiatives related to ethics and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Finance, Economics, or equivalent will also be considered).
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Sarbanes-Oxley, cost accounting, and financial acumen.
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude and approach.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, enabling effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful operational insights.
  • Highly organized with the capacity to manage a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems such as Oracle and Mainframe is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10% annually (domestic).
Physical Requirements:
The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the time and consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. The ability to communicate information and ideas effectively is essential.

Work Environment:
This position is based in a manufacturing facility, where the ideal candidate should be able to work efficiently and independently to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines. Effective communication with colleagues is necessary, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required. Additionally, the individual may need to travel to support other sites and participate in finance conferences and other events, which may involve overnight stays.
