Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the creation of a caring and healing environment using the 6 dimensions of the Relationship Based Care (RBC) model.
  • Follow the written plan of care and report pertinent data changes to the primary/associate nurse in a timely manner.
  • Perform direct patient care according to unit standards, policies, and procedures, including didactic groups for patients.
  • Participate in the physical management of potentially violent patients, using seclusion, restraint, and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADL) and measure and record vital signs.
  • Provide direct therapeutic interventions with assigned patients as determined by the individual treatment plan.
  • Participate in patient care conferences and treatment planning as requested by the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Document patient care and progress in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
  • Successful completion of training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (SECURE) as part of departmental orientation required.
  • Possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire/transfer date required.
