Senior Imaging Technologist/Imaging Technologist

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Radiology is seeking a highly skilled Senior Imaging Technologist or Imaging Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures, explaining examination procedures to patients, and instructing students and staff on examination and equipment operations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic equipment.
- Maintain, operate, and trouble-shoot equipment, and report equipment failures.
- Instruct trainees, students, and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
- Explain examination procedures to patients.
- Ensure patient welfare and assist physicians with medical procedures.
- Perform patient care techniques, including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring, and recording, and basic life support.
- Prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
- Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
- Plan daily, regular, and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
- Participate in on-call coverage.
- Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental, and clinical unit standards.
- Participate in phantom, human, and/or animal research.
- Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
- Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Imaging Technologist: Requires successful completion of a two-year or other approved program by the Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education.
- Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa.
