Position Overview:

As an integral part of the athletic department, the Athletic Training Specialist will provide essential preventive care and rehabilitation services to student athletes engaged in various sports. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while managing athletic injury protective gear and equipment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes during practices and competitions.
  • Provide immediate care and management for injuries and illnesses, including prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic records of all injury assessments and treatment plans.
  • Adhere to privacy regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA, to protect student athlete information.
  • Attend athletic events and practices as required, ensuring adherence to governing body regulations.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to safeguard the health of athletes and spectators.
  • Travel with athletic teams to designated competitions as necessary.

Supervisory Duties:

This position may involve overseeing student trainers and ensuring compliance with departmental standards.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in physical education, athletic training, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in athletic training.
  • Current certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within a specified timeframe after hiring.
  • Eligibility for a Class B driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.

  • Extensive knowledge of medical issues related to athletic training.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities regarding athlete care.

Working Environment:

This role typically requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with potential evening and weekend responsibilities. The work environment is primarily indoors, within a dynamic community college setting.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to read documents and use computer equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with students and staff.
  • Manual dexterity for office tasks and handling equipment.
  • Capability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
