Position Overview:

As an integral part of the athletic department, the Athletic Training Specialist will provide essential preventive care and rehabilitation services to student athletes engaged in various sports. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes during practices and competitions.
  • Provide immediate care and management for injuries and illnesses, including prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic records of all injury assessments and treatment plans.
  • Adhere to privacy regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA, to protect student athlete information.
  • Attend athletic events and practices as required, ensuring adherence to governing body regulations.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to safeguard the health of athletes and spectators.
  • Travel with athletic teams to designated competitions as necessary.

Supervisory Duties:

This position may involve overseeing student trainers and ensuring compliance with departmental standards.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in physical education, athletic training, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in athletic training.
  • Current certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within a specified timeframe after hiring.
  • Eligibility for a Class B driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Extensive knowledge of medical issues related to athletic training.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities regarding athlete care.
  • Attention to detail in documentation and injury tracking.

Must demonstrate the ability to organize work effectively and maintain collaborative relationships within the college community. A commitment to understanding and supporting a diverse student population is essential.


Working Environment:

This role typically requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with potential evening and weekend responsibilities. The work environment is primarily indoors, within a dynamic community college setting.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to read documents and use computer equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with students and staff.
  • Manual dexterity for office tasks and handling equipment.
  • Capability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
