Job Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Join the Taft College team as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and contribute to the success of our student athletes.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to provide top-notch care and support to our student athletes. As an Assistant Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for administering preventive treatment and rehabilitation to physical education students and athletes engaged in various intercollegiate sports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safety and welfare of student athletes at Taft College, including physical and non-physical ailments at assigned activities.
  • Provide onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic documentation of all injury and treatment encounters with student athletes.
  • Comply with health and safety standards, as well as regulations set by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and the Central Valley Conference (CVC).
  • Attend assigned athletic contests and practices, including non-traditional games as required in the CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws.
  • Monitor environmental conditions for the safety of student athletes, staff, and all those in attendance, and make recommendations to the Athletic Director.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree with coursework in physical education, athletic training, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • 1 year of athletic training experience.
  • Current, valid certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Class B driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
Working Conditions:

Assignments are as needed to support Taft College athletics. Assignment is typically 40 hours per week and 12 months per year. May require evening, overtime, holiday, or weekend hours throughout the year. Work is generally performed indoors.

Physical Requirements:

Vision sufficient to read documents and computer terminal displays. Speech and hearing to communicate in person or by telephone. Manual dexterity sufficient to use a variety of office equipment, computer keyboards, and to handle paper. Sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, such as paper and reports. Ability to bend and reach to retrieve and file supplies, equipment, and documents.
