Senior Systems Engineer Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer Lead to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Space Systems Development business unit, you will be responsible for leading the technical performance and risk management of a reusable space transportation system.
Your primary focus will be on implementing process improvements, overseeing regular reports to program and functional management, and ensuring specifications and requirements are developed, established, executed, and maintained consistent with the program requirements baseline.
You will also be responsible for developing and managing the technical baseline through design reviews, including SRR, PDR, and CDR, as well as developing and managing system functional, physical, system, subsystem, and component requirements.
Additionally, you will develop and maintain requirements traceability for the reusable space transportation system and work independently to determine the objectives of assignments and develop approaches to solutions.
Mentorship and training of other personnel will also be a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical performance and risk management of a reusable space transportation system
- Implement process improvements, oversight, and regular reports to program and functional management
- Develop and manage the technical baseline through design reviews
- Develop and manage system functional, physical, system, subsystem, and component requirements
- Develop and maintain requirements traceability for the reusable space transportation system
- Work independently to determine the objectives of assignments and develop approaches to solutions
- Mentor and train other personnel
Requirements:
- B.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
- 5+ years' experience in aerospace systems development
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering
- Full knowledge of space vehicles, reentry vehicles, propulsion systems, and spacecraft systems development
- Previous experience(s) of rapidly maturing programs
- Experience regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering or related technical subject area
- 10+ years' experience in aerospace systems development
- 10+ years' experience in the development of exoatmospheric and endoatmospheric flight vehicles
- Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
- Hypersonic vehicle thermal protection systems development and integration experience and/or
- Liquid rocket propulsion systems integration experience and/or
- In-space systems integration experience
Compensation Range:
CA applicants: $146,644.50-$205,302.30; CO applicants: $134,838.38-$188,773.73; WA applicants: $146,644.50-$205,302.30
Other site ranges may differ.
