Job Summary:

The Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing will direct, plan, organize, and control the activities of all plant operations, including dotted-line responsibility for all other support functions such as quality, finance, and human resources. This position ensures that areas of responsibility support the company's overall growth and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs and coordinates all plant operations and support functions at a single manufacturing facility (may be responsible for multiple facilities depending on the region).
  • Responsible for overall plant performance.
  • Accountable for delivering quality products in a timely manner at the most competitive cost.
  • Ensures coordination between all functional areas, with direct line responsibility over operations and indirect line responsibility for supporting functional areas of the business.
  • Accountable for plant P&L statements and the asset balance sheet.
  • Establishes short- and long-term plans to improve plant performance, including productivity, efficiency, quality, and service.
  • Plans for the development and/or integration of new manufacturing processes to facilitate either new products or enhancements to current processes.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures that satisfy all applicable corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Fosters a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Schedules and conducts plant meetings.
  • Ensures that all relevant plant information is communicated frequently to all employees.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with the community.
Requirements:
  • Establishes and directs plant policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates all plant operations and support functions within company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures overall plant performance and competitiveness.
  • Coordinates between all functional areas.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related business or engineering discipline plus 10+ years of progressive medical device manufacturing experience, including management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing, applicable federal regulations (FDA 21 CFR part 820) related to medical devices, ISO 13485 standards, safety and environmental management, budget preparation, and cost control.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • PC proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and MRP systems.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally stand, walk, sit for long periods, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or listen.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (seek assistance for greater amounts).
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Employees may be exposed to hazardous materials, and they need to consult the SDS in their work area.
