Job Summary

The Cardiac Rhythm Technician monitors and records electrocardiograph tracings of patients on telemetry monitors, recognizing and reporting arrhythmias to medical or nursing staff. This role requires operating complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection systems, and rhythm printers.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain cardiac monitoring equipment, including ECG machines and rhythm printers

Monitor and record patient ECG tracings, identifying and reporting arrhythmias to medical staff

Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report to Biomed personnel

Set up central station, monitoring alarms and correcting improper placement

Assist with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Less than 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart, as well as telemetry services

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work cooperatively with healthcare team members

Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adjust to changes in workload and schedules
