Advanced Patient Care Technician Med Surg

We are seeking an Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team at Medical City Frisco. As a PCT, you will provide exceptional patient-centric care, performing basic patient care services such as daily living help and maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment. You will also assist the nursing team with specialized patient care services based on your skills and training under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
Responsibilities- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Document observations, interactions, patient responses to performed activities, and any physical or behavioral changes at the time of occurrence.
- Report observations of patients to the RN/Team Lead.
- Help with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients.
- Provide or help with non-medicated care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices.
- Obtain or help in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests.
- Ensure accuracy of all labels and transfer of specimens.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination.
- Change bed linens as needed.
- Perform hourly rounding and respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- CNA, LNA, or EMT Training Program, or Military Medic Training.
- 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting or as a military medic.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Telemetry certification preferred.
