Token Creek Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to enhance our dedicated team.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Veterinary Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians, ensuring the safety and well-being of both pets and clients while maintaining high standards of veterinary care. This position focuses on keeping pets calm and secure throughout their appointments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote a culture rooted in our core values: Respect, Learning, Integrity, Exceptional Service, and Enjoyment.
- Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and prepare examination rooms, medical instruments, and surgical areas between appointments.
- Gather initial patient details, medical histories, vaccination records, and reasons for visits. Accurately document and update patient information.
- Provide comfort and restraint for pets before, during, and after procedures.
- Record examination findings and update records as directed by veterinarians.
- Educate pet owners on general care, specific conditions, and post-procedure instructions as directed by the Veterinarian.
- Monitor and assess pets' physical status and vital signs following surgical procedures.
- Keep track of and report the health status and vital signs of hospitalized and boarded pets.
- Maintain cleanliness in cages, pens, runs, and boarding areas.
- Feed, hydrate, groom, and exercise pets during their stay.
- Address general inquiries from clients.
- Assist in procedures that do not require direct Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician involvement.
- Conduct basic health assessments, identifying signs of illness or injury, and provide treatment under Veterinarian supervision.
- Administer medications, perform routine lab tests, fill prescriptions, and educate clients on medication usage and side effects under guidance.
- Deliver professional, efficient, and high-quality care while maximizing productivity.
- Encourage a collaborative practice environment that ensures compassionate and effective healthcare for pets.
- Adhere to all practice policies, quality assurance standards, and minimum care requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program is preferred.
Experience:
- Preferred one year of experience in a pet care environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of animal science.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacology.
- Proficient in various computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Basic math skills for accurate medication and fluid dosage.
- Analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Compassionate and empathetic towards pets and their owners.
- Professional interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Maintain composure in a dynamic and sometimes stressful work environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This role requires regular communication and the use of a computer for extended periods. Specific vision abilities are necessary for this position, including close vision. The job involves walking, standing, and sitting for long durations. Exposure to moderate noise levels, disinfectants, pet dander, and other substances may occur. The position may involve handling aggressive or frightened animals. Physical demands include lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Compensation starts at $15/hr and may increase based on experience.
Hours/Schedule: 32-40 hours per week. Open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM.
