The Plant Operations Engineer is responsible for the management and upkeep of stationary machinery, including steam boilers, air compressors, generators, wastewater treatment systems, cooling towers, fire protection systems, and refrigeration units. This role also involves operating automated systems to ensure optimal functionality of all equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and adjust the performance of operational equipment. Identify mechanical issues and implement corrective measures by consulting technical documentation and parts catalogs.
- Regularly assess boiler water quality, chemical levels, and fuel supplies.
- Conduct safety inspections of the facility to identify and address potential hazards, such as malfunctioning lights, uneven surfaces, and structural damages.
- Ensure the safe and effective startup of boilers, refrigeration, and wastewater systems.
- Perform safety tests on boiler and refrigeration systems and document the outcomes.
- Assist with routine maintenance and repair tasks.
- Maintain operational continuity by making necessary manual adjustments.
- Understand backflow, process flow, and P&ID systems.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned, utilizing electronic testing equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Familiarity with HMI operations, computer electronics, and communication systems.
- Understanding of various pump operations, including multi-stage and centrifugal types.
- Proficient in basic computer applications for email, document processing, and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of standard hand tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Possession of a Second or Third Grade Stationary Engineer's license.
