Position Overview

The role of a Cook Supervisor is essential in maintaining a secure and humane environment within correctional facilities. This position is pivotal in preparing individuals for reintegration into society through effective culinary training and management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cook Supervisor, you will oversee a team of 25-30 inmate workers engaged in various culinary tasks, including cooking, baking, and food preparation. Your primary duties will include:
  • Providing ongoing training to inmate workers to enhance their skills in food production, presentation, and sanitation.
  • Managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of food and non-food supplies.
  • Ensuring compliance with security protocols, including key control and contraband searches.
  • Collaborating with correctional staff to maintain the overall security of the institution.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following:
  • Proven experience in food preparation and kitchen management.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and dietary requirements.
  • Possession of an approved Food Protection Manager Certification from an accredited provider.
