Responsibilities- Conduct thorough nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans within 8 hours of patient admission.
- Orient and educate patients regarding hospitalization, medication management, and treatment options.
- Document patient information accurately and timely in the medical record, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of medication policies, practices, and side effects, ensuring safe and effective administration.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans, promoting positive patient outcomes.
- Manage crisis situations effectively, utilizing evidence-based interventions and positive approaches.
- Participate in program development and performance improvement activities, contributing to the advancement of psychiatric care.
- Engage in ongoing education and training, staying up-to-date with best practices and research in psychiatric nursing.
- Provide mentorship and support to students and new employees, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing required.
- BSN preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of continuous employment with the hospital, with a 90-day evaluation indicating meeting expectations.
- Successful completion of central and unit-specific orientation programs, including the medication proficiency examination.
- The incumbent must be physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent, mentally ill patients.
- CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) certification.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state where the facility is located or a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
