About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at the American Heart Association. As a key member of our marketing team, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating communications activities to support our community activities, advocacy, and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communications strategies to engage our target audience and promote our brand.
  • Create high-quality content for various marketing channels, including social media, email, and website.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and distribute press releases, media kits, and other marketing materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers to secure media coverage and partnerships.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of our communications efforts and provide recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing, marketing communications, or public relations.
  • Solid understanding of strategic public relations, marketing planning, and implementation.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging content for various audiences.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • University or college degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Nonprofit and/or agency experience.
  • Existing media connections and relationships.
  • Experience with AP Style writing.
