Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities related to folding and gluing, including supervising department personnel.
  • Direct daily operations within the department, assess employee performance, and address any personnel issues.
  • Ensure product quality by monitoring all operations, with a focus on budget adherence and throughput optimization.
  • Leverage the company’s management system to enhance production efficiency and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with other departments to continuously improve workflow efficiencies and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Examine job bags for specific instructions before assigning tasks.
  • Work with the Scheduling Manager to review planned jobs and formulate workflow strategies.
  • Identify the need for and schedule overtime as necessary.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Plan and oversee the effective use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Propose process improvements and evaluate staffing and equipment requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of printing, finishing, and folding carton processes, along with a strong understanding of related technical or administrative areas.
  • Proficient in Windows, Word, and Excel; ability to learn new software such as Solar Soft.
  • Preferred educational background includes two years of college or technical school; a bachelor’s degree is ideal.
  • Minimum of eight years of management experience in the printing sector, particularly in finishing and folding carton production.
  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, professional journals, and technical documents, as well as to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions from complex information.
  • Excellent vision capabilities, including color differentiation and focus.
  • Willingness to spend a significant portion of the day walking or standing.

Essential Skills:

  • Self-motivated with at least 3-5 years of leadership experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • A college degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of workflows and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to foster employee engagement and promote teamwork.
  • Experience in training staff on safety and manufacturing protocols.
  • Excellent coaching and communication abilities.
  • Capability to track expenses and prepare budget reports.
  • Broad knowledge of production planning processes.
  • Strategic planning and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of machine controls and instrumentation.
