Role Overview:

The Laboratory Computing Specialist will collaborate with the lab computing team and clients to address and resolve technical issues related to both hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist end-users with desktop support, including troubleshooting, implementing approved software solutions, and uninstalling outdated software.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and administration of user computer devices and associated computing environments, which includes systems software, applications, hardware, and configurations.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for laboratory instruments and their computer system interfaces, and assist with data storage solutions.
  • Perform repairs and troubleshooting on operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite products, and various third-party software applications, including hardware issues and laptop component replacements.
  • Document all support activities in detail, ensuring accurate ticket management.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional customer service abilities, and effective multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in quickly learning new technologies and products through documentation and online resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver positive experiences for users during support interactions.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and support tickets concurrently.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent technical experience is required.
  • Previous experience in IT desktop support or a similar technical role is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including O365.
  • Experience with ticketing systems is advantageous.
