The Security Investigator plays a critical role in the prevention, detection, and investigation of fraud and theft across all functional and geographic units of Vets Hired. Reporting directly to the Security Manager or Sr. Security Manager, this position requires a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a high level of expertise in conducting, documenting, and reporting on security investigations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and operate a comprehensive program for the prevention, detection, investigation, litigation, and prosecution of fraud and theft throughout the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in fraud and theft, investigative techniques, and legal requirements and limitations.
- Identify and analyze patterns and trends in theft and fraud on a local and national basis.
- Manage the life-cycle of investigations, from initial referral to resolution, including conducting off-site and telephonic interviews.
- Collaborate with key internal partners, including Internal Audit, Compliance, HR, SAI, and Legal, to share information and expertise and maximize the use of investigative results.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations regarding investigative methods, objectives, findings, and recommendations.
- Provide testimony relating to internal and criminal investigations in various legal settings.
- Assist in the creation and presentation of anti-fraud training programs and materials to Vets Hired employees.
- Perform and document ongoing risk and threat assessments of facilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Work with corporate Internal Audit, Compliance, and other related functions to implement business fraud controls.
Frequent travel is required to visit multiple locations. The Security Investigator may be exposed to physical operations and pressure in decision-making and meetings. Periodic overtime is required.
Qualifications and Skills- Five or more years of experience in the security profession.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to collect and analyze data from diverse sources and spot issues and detect gaps in available information.
- Self-starter with strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Professional demeanor, including treating others with dignity and respect and reacting well under pressure.
- Sound judgment and confidence in making difficult decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing and formal and informal speaking situations.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and across geographies.
- Familiarity with corporate functions such as finance, legal, HR, compliance, safety, audit, IT, public affairs, and facilities.
- Appreciation for international cultures, languages, business practices, and regulations.
- Certified Fraud Examiner or equivalent certification.
