Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

At Whitaker, we are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and processing invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify invoices and check requests for accuracy and proper documentation
  • Sort, code, and match invoices and receiving reports to purchase orders (3 way match)
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely payment to vendors
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and prepare analysis of accounts
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with vendors
  • Maintain vendor files and correspond with vendors regarding invoice inquiries
  • Track vendor credits for returns, rebates, and advertising
  • Assist with month-end closing and annual audits
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or SAP
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Salary:

$23-26 per hour
