Job Title: Head Chef Position

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations in our 270-bed hospital setting. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing a team of 50-60 union employees and supervising associates in patient services, retail, and culinary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement menus that meet corporate programs and guidelines, ensuring high-quality meals are prepared and presented in accordance with standardized recipes and portioning standards.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on food preparation, safe handling, equipment operation, and food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Maintain inventory levels within established guidelines, ensuring vital products are available when needed, and make informed decisions regarding leftover food products.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations, as evidenced by local health department and third-party audits.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs, as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Culinary arts degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience with hands-on chef experience.
  • High volume and complex foodservice operations and catering experience.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends, including quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • ServSafe certified and ACF preferred.

Estimated Salary:$90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
