Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Care Assistant to join our team. As a Nursing Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Support patient flow efforts through compliance with unit and Patient Services policies.
- Remain flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of care in all inpatient units.
- Communicate with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service.
- Have clinical and social contact with patients, including all age groups, and be able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
- Assist with simple procedures and follow standard precautions.
- Perform vital signs, measure height, weight, head circumference and other data as requested.
- Assist with feeding, collect urine and stool specimens, measure Foley and NG and wound drainage output.
- Bathe patients, change occupied and unoccupied beds, perform dressing and gowning and skin care.
- Perform safety checks to include restraints, falls, and suicide precautions.
- Ambulate, transport and position patients with proper body mechanics, applying or utilizing special equipment as necessary.
- Provide diversion activities, comforts and supports patients and their family members.
- Assist the patient and family in learning appropriate self-care techniques within the scope of the Nursing Care Assistant.
- Document all patient care observations and interventions in the electronic record accurately, clearly, in a timely manner following all established policies.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function, and maintain patient rights and confidentiality and actively supports risk management activities.
- Actively participate in quality management.
- Participate in patient care and unit activities to achieve compliance with all regulatory, patient safety, infection control, and safety requirements.
- Update and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to area of practice and ages of patient population.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Certified by State of Michigan as C.N.A. preferred.
- Completion of Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide training program, graduate of accredited Nursing School, or current student in accredited Nursing school upon recent completion of fundamentals.
- BLS certification required, or obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Attends unit conferences, in-service programs and continuing education activities to meet the organization's expectations.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 per annum
