As a Senior Commercial Underwriter within PNC's Corporate & Institutional Banking division, you will engage in managing a diverse portfolio of commercial accounts and navigate complex corporate transactions with loan amounts starting from 10 million and above.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate autonomously with minimal supervision, exercising significant approval authority. Prepare loan proposals for various transaction complexities and manage assigned portfolios. Engage with both internal and external stakeholders, serving as a subject matter expert for specific asset categories and potentially leading special projects or initiatives.
- Utilize independent judgment to assess risks and develop mitigative strategies, preparing proposals and/or scorecards, including risk assessments, by evaluating creditworthiness, collateral strength, and financial stability of involved parties. Conduct ongoing credit risk management for your assigned portfolio as necessary. Mentor and review the work of junior underwriters and assume managerial responsibilities when required.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies or missing data. Conduct pre-approval and post-approval activities as relevant.
- Identify and confirm compliance with all external regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Make informed recommendations regarding credit decisions or directly execute credit decisions when appropriate.
- Positions at this level typically necessitate a university degree, along with 3+ years of relevant industry experience. Professional certifications are often preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
