Position Summary:

This is a tenure-track faculty role focused on cognitive neuroscience within the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The successful candidate will become a vital member of the Cognitive and Affective Sciences group, contributing to research that spans various aspects of human cognitive processes, including but not limited to development, aging, memory, executive functions, emotional responses, and decision-making.

The ideal applicant will possess an MD (in fields such as neurology, psychiatry, or behavioral medicine), a PhD (in neuroscience, psychology, or related disciplines), or an MD/PhD, complemented by postdoctoral training and a strong publication record. Evidence of potential or proven success in securing external funding is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to teaching graduate-level courses in cognitive neuroscience and mentoring doctoral students in neuroscience programs.

Research Environment:

The University of Nebraska Medical Center offers a dynamic research environment with extensive resources for cognitive neuroscience investigations. Facilities include dedicated MRI, MEG, EEG, TMS, and physiological recording equipment, along with advanced computational resources. The department is recognized for its strengths in various neurological conditions and is expanding its focus on clinical neurology and neuroscience.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated record of impactful research in cognitive neuroscience.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a funded research program.
  • Doctoral degree(s) (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD) in relevant fields.
  • Commitment to research, education, and community outreach.
  • If applicable, board eligibility or certification in relevant medical fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience conducting research with special populations, including developmental and aging groups.
  • Expertise in cognitive neuroscience methodologies such as MRI, MEG, EEG, TMS, and physiological monitoring.
