Job Overview:
As a Portfolio Manager in Project Finance at CoBank, you will be responsible for managing relationships and providing credit support to primary Relationship Managers. This includes the origination, structuring, execution, and oversight of Project Finance transactions focused on power and energy infrastructure assets. You will collaborate closely with Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts on credit assessments, research, and financial modeling tasks, while also mentoring junior staff as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a portfolio of complex, non-recourse loans related to independent power projects, ensuring coordination with the Project Finance Credit underwriting team.
- Engage with key Financial Sponsors, Infrastructure Funds, and Independent Power Developers to maintain and enhance relationships.
- Review and guide the work of junior credit underwriting teams, preparing loan modification requests and managing disbursement processes.
- Conduct thorough due diligence, industry analysis, and financial modeling to support new business initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments to ensure seamless operations and compliance.
- Support the achievement of profitability and credit quality targets for the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector, particularly in power, water, energy, or utilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Project Finance is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and corporate valuation principles.
- Proficient in commercial lending, loan structuring, and financing alternatives.
- Advanced skills in Project Finance financial modeling and auditing.
- Ability to analyze credits, contracts, and legal documents effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
This role is primarily sedentary, requiring minimal physical exertion.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be necessary, typically once a month or less.
