The Community Learning Center (CLC) is dedicated to empowering a diverse group of adult learners, enabling them to transform their lives and achieve their potential through education, skills enhancement, and community involvement.
Our students primarily consist of low-income residents, representing a variety of ethnic, linguistic, and racial backgrounds, who are currently engaged in English or Adult Basic Education programs.
We are seeking qualified Adult Basic Education (ABE) Math Instructors who will:
Effectively deliver ABE Math classes (NRS Levels 1-2/GLE 0-2.9 through NRS Level 6/GLE 9-12, based on interest) to adult learners, utilizing in-person, hybrid, or online formats as required by program needs.
Provide structured, explicit instruction, practice, and assessment to assist students in reaching their educational and personal objectives.
Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to create materials, develop lesson plans, and exchange best practices.
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance our educational services.
Accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in teaching mathematics.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with instructional methods and materials for math education.
- Awareness of the needs of adult learners.
- A commitment to racial equity and a desire to understand and address systemic racism and other forms of oppression.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong foundation in mathematics.
- Experience teaching adults in community settings.
- Familiarity with remote instruction, digital literacy, and distance learning.
- Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards.
- Experience in HiSET test preparation.
- A passion for collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous learning.
- Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office and classroom environment with air conditioning and fluorescent lighting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires evening work and involves extensive computer use. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
