Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Sign Language faculty member to join our team at Santa Rosa Junior College. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching American Sign Language (ASL) skills and Deaf Culture content, as well as experience interacting with the Deaf community.

Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Teach ASL classes at various levels, including beginning and advanced courses;">
  • Develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of our diverse student population;">
  • Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise;">
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program development;">
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create inclusive learning environments.">

Requirements

  • ">
  • Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience, OR the equivalent;">
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism;">
  • Fluency in ASL;">
  • Knowledge and experience in teaching ASL skills, Deaf Culture content, and Interpreter Education courses;">
  • Background and experience in interacting with the culture and community of Deaf people.">
