About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Technology Generalist I to join our team at the State of Pennsylvania. As an IT Generalist I, you will play a critical role in supporting the technical needs of our organization, providing expert-level technical guidance and support to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recommend and implement desktop software and hardware solutions to improve departmental efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide technical support to users, analyzing their needs and developing or revising technical documents, user guides, release notes, and document libraries.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry technologies and provide recommendations to support the department's IT needs.
  • Resolve or escalate project-related issues, including project status and progress via project metrics, risk mitigations, contingencies, changes in scope, timeframe concerns, and program area or development issues.
  • Regularly review technical manuals and attend seminars and training sessions to improve new technology skills.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician, or one year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field.
  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Information technology experience including providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of information technology concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with the component parts of personal computers, peripherals, servers, and associated functionality.
