Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Instrumentation and Control Technician to join our team at Vistra Corporate Services Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the instrumentation and control systems to meet the specific energy generation requirements of our power plant in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform work incorporating strict adherence to Safety procedures and best practices and continually observe for safe working practices.
- Regularly develop and present safety topics.
- Develop an understanding of HPI tools through training opportunities and practice. Actively participate in Pre/Post Job briefs.
- Work with other technicians to perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on the plant instrumentation and control systems including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shift.
- Cover Unit start-up and shut-down activities with assistance from other Technicians.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Learn to enter WRs and PRs into Maximo.
- Assist in the design and implementation of O&M and Capital projects.
- Learn to communicate LOTO requests to Operations.
- Maintain a good working relationship with Operations, Electrical, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, other support groups and vendors.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
- High School education or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year as I&C Tech Sr. or four (4) years related work experience.
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.
- Provide technical expertise and skills to effectively troubleshoot low voltage electrical circuits.
- Provide technical expertise and skills to perform calibrations and maintenance of field instrumentation including transmitters (level, pressure, flow, temperature, etc.), control valves, valve positioners, thermocouples, etc.
- Proficient computer skills.
Key Metrics
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the power plant processes (material handling, water side equipment, air side equipment, emission controls, turbine/generator, etc.).
- Demonstrates specific knowledge and skills to perform job assignments.
- Demonstrates continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrates knowledge of how job assignment impacts other systems/units and uses this knowledge to maximize safety and minimize equipment problems.
