Conducts ongoing assessments and data collection systematically, concentrating on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive aspects; as well as nutrition, pain management, patient and family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.

Develops a goal-oriented care plan when appropriate.
Executes care in a comprehensive, skilled, consistent, and continuous manner.

Prioritizes patient care based on critical patient needs and the available resources within the unit, including time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.

Identifies the learning needs of patients and families and takes action to address them.
Exhibits awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights, age-specific needs, and cultural and ethical beliefs.
Coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
Fosters effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Respects staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.
Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates the responsibilities of healthcare team members.
Assesses the effectiveness of care provided by team members.
Utilizes effective communication methods and skills, adhering to appropriate lines of authority.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety principles as defined by the institution.
Acts efficiently in emergency situations, following established protocols, maintaining composure, notifying relevant individuals, and documenting events.

Exhibits a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.

Provides input for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in resolving staffing challenges; shows adaptability when assigned to other units upon request.

Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing computers and telecommunication tools for documentation, tracking, and conveying information.

Ability to navigate within a Windows environment, using a mouse, and the capacity to learn electronic medical record system applications.

Performs other related duties as necessary.
Creates a prioritized, goal-directed care plan based on established nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.
Recognizes patient and family learning needs and implements suitable measures.
Demonstrates a solid knowledge base and effective actions in caring for a designated patient population.
Participates consistently in staff development activities for the nursing unit and department.
Documents patient care and unit activities in a timely, accurate, and concise manner.
If no qualified candidates are available, may consider training in the specialty areas listed below. Candidates in training are required to obtain appropriate certifications within a specified timeframe after hire or transfer into the unit.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


A minimum of one year of recent experience (within the last three years) in Critical Care or completion of a Critical Care Training Program within the past year.

Education

High School Diploma/GED
Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program and completion of the required clinical hours as mandated by the BRN; OR graduation from a registered nursing program with either: hours of RN experience in the clinical specialty area from a licensed acute care facility within three years of graduation; or 2) graduation from an accredited licensed vocational nursing program that includes clinical experience in acute care and has worked 2000 hours as a licensed vocational nurse within the clinical specialty area within three years before graduation

or (3) currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level MSN program and has completed pre-licensure requirements to practice nursing.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Additional Requirements:
Demonstrated understanding of the RN scope of practice
Commitment to service orientation (members, staff, providers)
Effective written and oral communication skills (in English)
Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a Critical Care course is preferred.
