Role Summary

The EHR Support Specialist plays a crucial role in training, assisting, and supporting staff in utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system effectively, particularly in relation to patient care and data management. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert on the EHR's capabilities and its efficient use. The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in EHR software, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and familiarity with data management practices and healthcare regulations. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that our electronic health records system operates efficiently, securely, and effectively supports high-quality patient care. Flexibility in scheduling is required, with some evenings and weekends potentially necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with providers, managers, nurses, and support staff to evaluate and recommend enhancements to clinical workflows and application functionalities for improved operational consistency and efficiency.
  • Work alongside managers and providers to assess and enhance workflow efficiency through the EHR application.
  • Customize and configure EHR clinical modules to optimize clinician efficiency and enhance patient care quality.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop, monitor, and achieve annual quality objectives and goals.
  • Gather feedback on system development, functionality, upgrades, planned downtimes, and overall application performance.
  • Create and maintain training materials and exercises for users of clinical information systems, including user manuals, policies, procedures, and reference documents.
  • Stay informed about institutional clinical systems and relevant clinical policies and procedures for each role trained.
  • Address system issues and provide IT support to staff.
  • Understand patient education principles.
  • Conduct training sessions, in-services, group and individual instruction, needs assessments, program evaluations, and end-user proficiency assessments.
  • Collaborate with other facilities and organizations to optimize system utilization.
  • Engage in EHR-related webinars, training sessions, and conference calls to remain current on updates related to Oak Orchard EHRs.
  • Participate in network-wide clinical meetings as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
