The Laboratory Technologist performs laboratory testing procedures and provides clinical result interpretation according to established procedures, ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing procedures and provide clinical result interpretation according to established procedures.
  • Review and verify results to ensure data validity and interpret results.
  • Apply appropriate procedural techniques related to specimen procurement and handling, instrument operation, operator maintenance, application of universal precautions, and inventory monitoring.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new equipment and troubleshoot equipment problems as needed.
  • Perform and document quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with established parameters and standards.
  • Work with the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager to resolve quality control, patient, or procedural problems and recommend enhancements to laboratory procedures.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited medical technology program.
  • Meets FDA qualifications for CLIA (1988 Clinical Lab Improvement Amendments) standards for all laboratory and high complexity testing.
  • MT/MLS certification.
  • ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) eligible or equivalent and required from 18 months of hire date or transfer.
Work Environment

This role demands increased amounts of standing, bending, and manual manipulation, as well as some light lifting up to 20lbs.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Laboratory Manager/Supervisor.
