Role Summary:
The Culinary Support Specialist collaborates with the Dietitian and Dining Services Director to fulfill residents' needs by delivering quality nutritional services and care in accordance with all regulations and Dominion Senior Living standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards for safe food preparation, service, and storage, including proper equipment usage and infection control.
- Keep the Dining Services Director informed of any unusual incidents or concerns regarding residents or team members.
- Maintain knowledge of prescribed diets (e.g., therapeutic) and food textures, and implement diet changes as directed by the Dining Services Director promptly and accurately.
- Prepare for shifts by reviewing relevant information and reports.
- Set up and sanitize the work area effectively.
- Practice safe knife handling and ensure knives are well-maintained.
- Thaw and cool foods according to safety requirements, maintaining appropriate temperatures for all food items.
- Prepare meals that are flavorful, visually appealing, nutritionally balanced, and suitable for each resident.
- Engage in ongoing cleaning and adhere to the cleaning schedule for all kitchen areas.
- Maintain kitchen equipment as required.
- Organize the kitchen to ensure a safe, neat, and orderly environment.
- Receive and store food items safely and promptly.
- Ensure the kitchen is well-prepared with food and supplies for the next meal.
- Restock products and supplies post-meal service.
- Close the work area at the end of operations.
- Assist in managing Dining Services within budget by minimizing waste.
- Notify the Dining Services Director when supplies are running low.
- Support other departments with programming and activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience in healthcare and food services is advantageous.
- Completion of a valid food service sanitation course is required, with maintenance of certification.
- Must obtain valid Continuing Education credits as mandated by state regulations.
- Experience working with seniors, particularly those with cognitive impairments (e.g., Alzheimer's or Dementia), is preferred.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, physical examination, drug screening, and TB skin test is required.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
