Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and management expertise to lower graded engineers/architects from a variety of disciplines and technical staff on larger more complex multi-phase projects.
  • Performs planning, evaluates, and recommends programs and development plans for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities, including utility systems.
  • Serves as consulting engineer on all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Works with organizational managers, budgeting personnel and higher engineering authority including Command in developing and gaining approval for proposed facility programs/projects.
  • Coordinates projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional & Scientific Positions.

Qualification Requirements:

You must meet one of the following qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement and provide documentation to support your qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering from a curriculum in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineer curriculum.
  • Have a combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences, and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Additional Requirements:

You must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or band or equivalent pay scale performing a wide range of engineering duties surrounding O&M functions to encompass the maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of a variety of infrastructure facilities and utilities.
