Job Overview:

  • Assist IPPD students, faculty, and staff by tracking student performance in course and project deliverables, providing constructive feedback as necessary.
  • Evaluate and document assignment grades, which include but are not limited to:
    • Individual and group assignments
    • Quizzes
    • Weekly project status memos and evaluation feedback
    • Student completion of evaluations and surveys
    • Deliverable reports adhering to professional and technical writing standards based on assignment rubrics and prior coursework
    • Class participation during lectures and through online platforms
    • Team blogs and other multimedia submissions
  • Oversee submissions for late assignment requests and excused absence inquiries.
  • The Course Assistant role does not entail teaching responsibilities.
  • Attendance in class is mandatory. Classes are scheduled for Tuesdays during designated periods.
  • Engage in weekly meetings with the IPPD Director for guidance and feedback.
  • Implement updates to the Canvas course shell as directed by the IPPD Director.
  • Remote work is generally discouraged but may be permitted for specific tasks.
  • While office hours are not required, the Course Assistant should maintain accessibility during business hours via email and online messaging platforms.
Expected Compensation:
$5 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a diligent worker with exceptional attention to detail, comfortable in a deadline-oriented environment. Candidates must be adaptable team players who are organized, reliable, and self-motivated, possessing the following qualifications:
  • Current engineering student at the University of Florida who has completed the Senior Design course or a graduate engineering student pursuing a degree at UF, with a bachelor's in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Strong technical writing abilities with experience in professional report writing.
  • Familiarity with Canvas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Organized approach and excellent time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Internship experience in engineering.
