Community Passageways seeks a skilled Critical Incident Responder to provide compassionate on-scene violence interruption, crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization at scenes of violence. This role is an integral part of the Critical Incident Response System and requires training in crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide critical incident assessment and violence interruption on-site
- Assess the scene for witnesses, known community members/allies, law or safety officers, other unoccupied first responders
- Identify yourself to stakeholders and ask how you can support
- Provide crowd control, de-escalation, mediation, and conflict resolution
- Notify CIR Manager and/or Lead when scene is safe/clear and no further action needed
- Lived experience with the criminal legal system - policing, jail, state supervision
- Ability to prioritize workload and daily activities and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflicts, and de-escalate issues
- Ability to work under pressure, receptive to change, willing to learn, with a cooperative approach to problem-solving
Community Passageways offices located in Seattle, WA (South End and Central District), out on the field, remotely (Zoom/Google meet, text messaging, phone calls from home or a location where you can work from)
