Job Overview: The Cable Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for performing thorough inspections and testing of cables to verify compliance with customer specifications and product design prior to distribution. We are currently seeking candidates for our 2nd, 3rd, and swing shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance throughout the designated shift.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on both coated and uncoated wires to assess conductor resistance, diameter, and length.
  • Evaluate cable construction, printing, and reel dimensions for accuracy.
  • Measure wire, insulation, and insulation shields to ensure adherence to customer standards.
  • Package cables according to specific customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to address quality-related issues.

Performance Expectations:
  • Adhere to all established rules and procedures.
  • Foster a respectful environment among all employees.
  • Keep the work area organized and clean.
  • Prioritize safety and report any incidents or concerns immediately.
  • Encourage a cooperative shop floor atmosphere where operators assist one another.
  • Complete any tasks assigned by the shift supervisor.

Required Skills and Training:
  • Familiarity with shop floor computer systems, including Maximo and SAP.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, cable cutters, and utility knives for cable preparation.
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot electronic measuring devices for conductor resistance testing.
  • Successfully complete core skills training, covering Basic Electrical Principles and Safety, as well as Basic Cable Construction.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in decimals, percentages, multiplication, addition, and subtraction.
  • Ability to read and interpret SOPs, TIs, CDAs, FODs, QUA, DODs, industry specifications, and customer specifications.
  • Forklift operation training is required.

Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not mandatory.

Safety and Physical Requirements:
  • Safety shoes and glasses are mandatory in production areas.
  • Hearing protection is required in designated zones.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours on concrete surfaces.
  • Cut-resistant gloves are necessary when using utility knives.
  • Must be capable of moving reels weighing between 500 and 20,000 lbs. with assistance or specialized equipment.
  • Ability to bend or stoop to floor level up to 50 times during an 8-hour shift.
