This role involves leading our Plumbing & Fire Protection Department in Arlington, VA, and supporting the function enterprise-wide.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead as an engineering expert and technical advisor to resolve staff queries and issues.
  • Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff.
  • Manage budgets and timelines for projects.
  • Cross-check accuracy of work performed by staff.
  • Communicate with managers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Presentation and leadership responsibilities.
  • Department management tasks including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.

The ideal candidate will have:

Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience in plumbing/fire protection design.
  • Team supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree - Mechanical Engineering required; PE license preferred.
  • Solid technical writing skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Plumbing codes and NFPA Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated attitude with ability to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs.
  • Strong software skills including Revit.
