Job Title: Medical Records Specialist

Connections Health Solutions is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Medical Records Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of patient medical records. This position is responsible for responding to requests for medical record information, analyzing medical record documents, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests for medical record information from various requestors, including healthcare providers, patients, attorneys, and third-party payors.
  • Analyze medical record documents to determine if information needs to be scanned and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Scan medical records using a scanner into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Notify providers to request approval for release of documents per policies and via the EHR system.
  • Escalate unresolved and frequent medical records issues to management.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of professional experience with medical records.
  • High school diploma.
  • 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations concerning medical records, including HIPAA Standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a team-centered environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments, physicians, and ancillary staff.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Adobe PDF, MS Office Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual - Spanish/English.
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.
