Medical Records Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Specialist to join our team at NavitsPartners. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and operating the medical records program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and VA regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough audits of medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy, including federal/state mandate audits and internal audits for quality assurance and risk management.
- Monitor Medicare assessments, certification periods, and physician visits to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Compile medical care, diagnosis, and census data for statistical reports and serve as the facility's statistician.
- Code diseases, diagnoses, and treatments using standardized systems for long-term care facilities, ensuring continuity of care.
- Act as Custodian of Records, handling releases of information and processing subpoenas according to applicable laws and procedures.
- Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance with medical records regulations and other departmental documentation.
- Participate in and lead various facility meetings, regulatory committees, and special projects as required.
- Oversee physician credentialing, ensuring all necessary documentation is in order and compliance is maintained.
- Supervise and manage staff, including training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and addressing any issues.
- Actively participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in long-term care.
- Ability to obtain and retain a valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Knowledge of Veterans Administration, CMS, and state regulatory standards.
- Familiarity with healthcare management processes, including personnel rules and ICD coding.
A Master's degree in Social Work (LMSW) with an active social work license issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners is required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in healthcare management is preferred.
