COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Hourly Pay Range: $34.74

Salary offers will be determined within the specified pay range, reflecting the candidate's relevant experience.

JOB OVERVIEW AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County is looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to join the Workforce team within the Children, Family & Community Connections (CFCC) Division.

This role involves working within the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) JOBS program, assisting participants in achieving their self-sufficiency objectives.

The Workforce Specialist will collaborate with program participants to create tailored and client-focused employment and training strategies. This position requires building strong relationships with educational institutions and local employers to enhance opportunities for participants. Responsibilities include documenting participant engagement and progress in meeting established goals while ensuring compliance with program guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have experience in structured employment programs, particularly the TANF JOBS Program.

Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, proficient with technology, collaborative, and adept at navigating available resources and services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in vocational, career, and/or employment counseling.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Proven ability to coach and prepare clients for job interviews and employment entry.
  • Experience in outreach to businesses and delivering presentations to secure employment opportunities for clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to document participant interactions and progress consistently.
  • Track record of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using various databases for eligibility and data collection.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment and training regulations.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse and vulnerable populations, promoting equity and inclusion.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment drug screening.
  • Pass a criminal history background check.
  • A valid driver's license is required for County business.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with employers and public agencies to identify job openings.
  • Develop personalized employment and career plans with clients.
  • Coach and prepare clients for job interviews and workforce entry.
  • Document client meetings in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provide case management and retention services for newly employed clients.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position participates in the County's alternate workweek program, working 37.5 hours during a standard workweek from Monday to Thursday (Fridays off). Specific working hours will be discussed with the selected candidate upon job offer.
