Position Overview:
This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan reimbursement.

Salary:
Competitive salary with annual performance bonuses and regular salary increases. Compensation is determined through a formal pay-setting process that considers education and length of practice.

Paid Time Off:
Generous leave policy offering 50-55 days of paid time off annually, which includes 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, and 11 paid Federal holidays, plus a possible 5-day paid absence for Continuing Medical Education (CME).

Position Responsibilities:
The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time physician specializing in Primary Care.

The physician will oversee the medical management of a designated panel of patients, which includes:
- Conducting patient histories and physical examinations
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Managing both acute and chronic illnesses.

Administrative duties will encompass the medical management of patients and addressing clinic needs. The physician should be adept at performing minor outpatient clinical procedures. Medical management will adhere to VA policies, VA formulary, and state regulations.

Additionally, the physician will allocate 20% of their time as the lead provider for video on demand, telehealth, and VA community care consults, with an immediate goal of scheduling 2-3 telehealth visits daily and promoting expansion within the Medical Center.

Preferred qualifications include residency training and board certification in Internal Medicine, along with experience or training in current technologies. Teaching experience in acute and ambulatory settings is also preferred.

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 8-hour shifts primarily during weekdays, with potential extended hours in the evenings or on Saturdays. Total hours will not exceed 40 hours per week.

Travel Requirements:
Potential travel to supporting sites may be necessary.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is also required for all Veterans Health Administration HCP.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements and any additional qualifications listed in the job announcement.

Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.

Currently employed physicians in VA who met the requirements for appointment under previous standards at the time of their initial appointment are considered to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.

Residency Training:
Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Preferred Experience:
Residency trained and board certified in Internal Medicine, with experience or training in current technologies and teaching experience in acute and ambulatory settings is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily office-based and sedentary. No manual labor is required beyond ordinary situations. The incumbent must be capable of using a computer, as all clinical charting is electronic. Education:
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

Approved schools include those accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association.

For foreign medical graduates, verification with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is required to confirm certification requirements.
