Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at WellStar Health System, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring efficient and professional diagnostic procedures, and assisting with scheduling and staff coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff to ensure that ordered diagnostic procedures are performed efficiently and professionally
  • Assist with scheduling and staff coverage to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
  • Maintain modality workflow to maximize equipment utilization and meet patient expectations
  • Develop and maintain department personnel schedules
  • Participate in departmental and leadership meetings
  • Oversee the competency process for all staff in their department
  • Assist with patient care and coordinate work activities with physicians and other hospital departments
  • Ensure patient privacy and comfort are accommodated
  • Verify correct patient identity prior to performing procedures
  • Organize schedules, time, and priorities to ensure required activities are accomplished within designated timeframes
Requirements
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
  • Reg Cardiac Sonographer - CCI or Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer certification
  • Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor certification
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred
  • Five (5) years experience in modality required
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure while participating in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively
  • Competent in all aspects of modality of their specialty
  • Ability to supervise a multi-specialty team

The Chief Cardiac Sonographer will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, interacting with patients, families, co-workers, volunteers, and physicians. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a positive attitude in a stressful environment.
