About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Abbott Laboratories. As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining materials, components, and equipment, and for managing the procurement process from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and process purchase orders, direct and indirect, in accordance with documented procurement processes.
  • Execute procurement plans, report supplier performance, and align with contracts.
  • Communicate with management and stakeholders on purchase order status.
  • Manage orders through completion and execute closures once fulfilled.
  • Interact with suppliers and maintain good business relationships between Abbott and suppliers.
  • Communicate component specifications to suppliers.
  • Mitigate invoicing issues.
  • Update vendor performance data.
  • Support the development of supplier scorecards and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Manage the implementation of suppliers, including ensuring the ordering of appropriate first articles and validations.
  • Facilitate cost savings and quality improvement projects through purchasing.
  • Manage material master data in ERP.
  • Use continuous improvement to establish metrics, drive KPIs, standardize and automate tactical activities over time.
  • Support site projects that contribute to organizational goals.
  • Provide audit support of purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Cultivate a wide range of internal networks and develop an external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrate basic project management skills by acting as a project lead on small, well-defined projects.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • 7 years of related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area.
  • Solid understanding and application of business concepts, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to work in a quality system environment and ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate identifiable factors, and exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies.
